First Annual 5K Blows Participants Away!

finish with joy 5K 2Last weekend, over 60 racers and 15 volunteers braved the windy weather and tough, muddy terrain for our first annual 5k Hemlock Walk/Run.

With a large turnout for first time 5K participants, staff and family at MOM’S INC. were delighted to see racers of all backgrounds and training come out for the event. The trail at Bald Eagle State Park, which consisted of a bit of the West Launch Area road and then the Hunter Run West trail, was a bit tougher than usual due to the rainy weather leading up to the event. With caution signs stationed along the way, runners and walkers battled through the near-flood like conditions over portions of the Hunter Run West trail.

The post-race party consisted of free pizza from Dominos and water from First Quality, followed by the first place awards and raffle basket give-aways.
